Last Friday, December 6, Egypt witnessed a magical night, full of beauty, talent and fierce competition. In the 52nd edition of *Miss Intercontinental 2024*, Puerto Rican María Cepero Jiménez was crowned as the new queen of the pageant. This is the **fourth time** that Puerto Rico has achieved this prestigious title, continuing a tradition of success that began in 1986 with Elizabeth Robinson.
María Cepero, 24, stood out among more than 55 candidates from around the world thanks to her charisma, elegance and connection with the public. In addition, she won the **Miss People’s Choice Award**, thanks to the massive support of fans, consolidating her place as the favorite of the night. In the final gala, María defeated Miss Venezuela, who was the first runner-up, and Miss Philippines, who took third place.
María Cepero represents the continuity of a rich Puerto Rican history in *Miss Intercontinental*. Before her, Maydelisse Columna (2010) and Heilymar Rosario (2016) also brought the title to the island. In addition, Puerto Rico has been the land of outstanding finalists such as Laurie Simpson (1987) and Mariela Pepin (2022). Now, María Cepero joins this list of achievements with a crown that symbolizes effort, beauty and intelligence.
