India recognized Moldova on December 28, 1991 and diplomatic relations were established on March 20, 1992. Both, India-Moldova relations are friendly and cordial. In April 2023, Moldova announced its decision to open an embassy in India. H.E. Mrs. Ana Taban, was appointed by the Moldovan government as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of India. The Moldovan Ambassador Mrs Taban arrived in India in June 2023. India accredits its Ambassador in Bucharest to the Republic of Moldova. Today, India's external affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar and Moldvan Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Mihai Popșoi officially inaugurated the embassy of Moldova in New Delhi, India in presence of ambassador Mrs Ana Taban.
