PT// Sagres, zona de cruzamento de rotas entre o mar Mediterrâneo e o oceano Atlântico, porto de pescadores e comerciantes de várias nações, mas também, zona assolada por corsários. A imponente fortificação de Sagres é o prolongamento humano do rochedo natural e foi durante séculos a principal praça de guerra de um sistema defensivo marítimo geo-estratégico.
A política da Expansão portuguesa nos séculos XV e XVI levou à fundação da Vila do Infante. Assim, Vila do Infante e Sagres confundem-se no desenrolar dos tempos.

The imposing fortification of Sagres is the human extension of the natural rock and was for centuries the main battleground of a geo-strategic maritime defensive system.
The Portuguese expansion policy in the 15th and 16th centuries led to the foundation of Vila do Infante. Thus, Vila do Infante and Sagres become confused in the course of time.
