As Charolas são a manifestação cultural mais tradicional e genuína da Freguesia de Santa Bárbara de Nexe, sendo únicas na região no improviso e na ausência de simbologia religiosa.

Nos primeiros dias de cada ano, grupos de homens e/ou mulheres, acompanhados de instrumentos (acordeão, castanholas, pandeiretas, ferrinhos e por vezes clarinete e saxofone), atuam em Festivais em Santa Bárbara de Nexe, Bordeira e arredores, casas particulares de amigos e nos cafés da zona, entoando cantigas e lançando quadras improvisadas (“vivas”) saudando o ano novo e os amigos, num clima de amizade, alegria e alguma crítica social e política.

As Charolas da Terra de Nexe, em meados do século XX, atingiram os mais altos patamares da música centrada no acordeão com a participação dos mestres acordeonistas bordeirenses José Ferreiro Pai e João Barra Bexiga, assim como da poesia popular com a participação de grandes poetas populares como António Aleixo e Clementino Baeta. Por isso mesmo, estivemos em Direto na tarde de Quarta Feira, no primeiro dia do novo ano de 2020, em Sta Bárbara Nexe. Estivemos em direto em todos os canais sociais e digitais da Mais Algarve, em transmissão global e planetária, desde Santa Bárbara Nexe (Faro | Algarve | Portugal | Europa), para todo o Mundo civilizado e com ligação à internet. Charolas are the most traditional and genuine cultural manifestation of the Parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, being unique in the region in improvisation and in the absence of religious symbolism.

The Charolas of Terra de Nexe, in the mid-twentieth century, reached the highest levels of accordion-centered music with the participation of the accordionist masters José Ferreiro Pai and João Barra Bexiga, as well as popular poetry with the participation of great popular poets. as Antonio Aleixo and Clementino Baeta.
