British holidaymakers in Portugal's Algarve were angry on Friday (June 3) following the UK's decision to reimpose a mandatory quarantine for travellers returning from the popular southern European destination.

British tourists were seen walking on the beach and enjoying outdoor cafes by the promenade but the news shook up their holidays,

Jasmine, from Bristol, believes the quarantine was a political move to prevent British people from travelling abroad and instead boost the domestic economy with national tourism.

"They are obviously doing it because they want to keep English in the UK to spend their money in the UK to get the economy back up," she said. "I just think it is really, really wrong."

Darren from Liverpool said the decision was "disastrous".

"I think it is the worst decision ever. Because we've already made plans to come out here. Now while we're on our holiday we have to start buying more tests for when we get home," he said.
