Algar Seco is a fascinating group of rock formations carved out of limestone bedrock. It is part of Carvoeiro,(and Lagoa) a beautiful touristic town, which can be seen by walking the boardwalk from here to the church.

The cave known as "A Boneca" -( the doll) resembles a doll when seen from the ocean side, being the two arches the eyes of the doll. On the eastern side there is an exposed sink hole that is penetrated by the ocean water and can become very dangerous as swimmers might be suck out into the sea.


Walking trails on the cliffs and boardwalk are travellers' delight due to the outstanding ocean and rock views.
