The ALGARVE is STUNNING - A day in Lagos Portugal ????????

Some of the best beaches in Portugal, maybe even some of the best beaches in the world can be found near Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal.

Some spectacular scenery can be found at Ponta da Piedade, which is a series of rock formations that have been worn by the coastal erosion to form these amazing cliff pillars, bays, grottoes and caves.

Lagos town itself, at least the old town of Lagos, really comes to life in the late afternoon and early evening when the street cafe's start to fill up and you get musicians on the street.

Please note that this video was filmed in the summer of 2018, not in 2020. Please be sensible, think of others as well as yourself and only arrange your next holiday or travel trip when it is safe to do so.

Welcome to the Algarve, specifically Lagos in Portugal.

Lagos is on the western end of the Algarve on the south coast on the Atlantic coast of Portugal and it's a beautiful area. Lots of long beautiful beaches and the town is also quite interesting.
Ponta da Piedade is just south of the town of Lagos and is very easy to get to and have a look from Lagos.

There are two ways to explore the cliffs and caves at Ponta da Piedade, you can approach by land, or you can do a sea trip where you can go around by boat in amongst some of the rock cliff formations and into some of the caves and grottoes.

From land there's quite a climb up, and there's quite a drop down. There are various little viewpoints along the coast, my plan was to go up to the top of one of these and get a view. The path I took didn’t look that stable, I mean when you consider these places have been eroded it doesn't say much for the stability of what's left so watch your footing.

It would be possible to do the walk in flip-flops but it's best to wear a strong pair of shoes.

Even from half way up there is already an amazing view, and looking out over the water you can see boats cruising. You can book lots of things to do in Lagos and especially coming out here in boats. There are cabins everywhere and places in the main street of Lagos to book.

One activity I saw was kayak cruises where they bring you around here and then you go out on a kayak and kayak amongst these rock formations and in the bays. That seems quite a nice activity which I fancy doing next time I visit Lagos.

The path looks a lot steeper now I'm down here and I've got to climb down here somehow as well. Here the path is really steep. This is one of those decisions that seems like a brilliant idea at first but once you start do you are not so sure. I hope I won’t regret this when it comes to trying to get down.

Oh wow. Already, I'm not quite at the top, but already I have an amazing view, look at that. Wow.
There's lots of little beaches, and see there's a cave down there. It’s time to get my Mavic Air drone in the air and get you some aerial shots of this amazing Algarve view. It’s beautiful, it looks like it's gonna be a great view from the water as well looking up, but let's see what it looks like from the air looking down first.

In the evenings is when Lagos old town really comes to life. The street cafes and shops of Lagos are still open, you can buy an ice cream, wander around the town, eat alfresco, have a nice wine, enjoy some quality food and sometimes there's musicians playing. There are often buskers.
Lagos is very pleasant in the evening, it’s arguably the best time to come to town because during the day it gets obscenely hot. Even in the spring months it gets hot during the day so come on and enjoy Lagos town in the evening.
