The Alcántara Bridge (also known as Puente Trajan at Alcantara) is a Roman stone arch bridge built over the Tagus River at Alcántara, Spain between 104 and 106 AD by an order of the Roman Emperor Trajan in 98. It bears the inscription Pontem perpetui mansurum in saecula (I have built a bridge which will last forever) on the archway over the central pier.
The bridge originally measured 190 m in length, which is today reduced to 181.7 m, because the damages from wars.

Posiblemente estemos ante el puente romano más relevante de los que quedan en el mundo. De hecho, su nombre, Alcantara (Al Qantarat), quiere decir "el puente" en árabe, suficiente para comprender la importancia de esta obra. Fue constuido entre los años 105 y 106 por el arquitecto romano Cayo Iulio Lacer en la Vía que comunicaba Norba -actual Cáceres- con Conimbriga - hoy Condeixa-a-Velha-, por lo que no es un acceso a ninguna ciudad.

Está compuesto por seis arcos que salvan una distancia de 214 m. sobre el río Tajo y que se apoyan en cinco pilares y dos estribos en sus extremos
