This time with more explanation!
The goal was to generate a unique high-quality look. Thanks to 10 bit, a milestone for drones, you finally have a large buffer for post-processing, completely without banding and other 8 bit disadvantages.
Colors can transport strong emotions, so it is important to use them as well. A true color reproduction of reality is often not desirable, it is better to transport feelings with it, so a video look is very important and also very individual.
What have I done?
- Lens distortion corrected
- Resharpened
- An elaborate LUT with automatic intelligent adjustment of
brightness and contrast created. Bright green destroys a film look
quickly, avoiding it had top priority. The DJI/Sony Blue was also
adjusted and I had never liked it before. My wish was to use
strong, but muted colors, all dark colors, not clear, bright colors
such as tomato red.
- Minimal diffuse lighting added for a soft light in the sky.
- Overexposed areas are intelligently recalculated and for the most
part restored. Here and that I still allow overexposure, otherwise it
seems unnatural.
- Bright image areas are displayed warmer, dark image areas cooler
(Hollywood style). This gives you a strong but pleasant look and
doesn't produce the brilliant colors as with a simple increase in
color saturation.
- Intelligent Noise Reduction: Due to the extensive processing
steps and changes of the contrasts, the noise was also increased.
For precise noise reduction, the parameters are automatically
adjusted to the noise values in the various parts of the video clip.
