MY THOUGHTS:
------------------------------------
Well hello! I'm a little late in posting this and following up on my Tromso vlog (link: https://youtu.be/GtmIQ97UZxg) but here it is! We visited Tromso and Lofoten Islands of Norway in October/November of 2016, during the Fall (before the full Polar night time). We drove ~8hrs to Lofoten from Tromso and stayed at Eliassen Rorbuer, which are old fish cabins that are now places for visitors to stay. It is located in the island of Hamnoya (Hamnoy) and really close to Reine. It is surrounded by many, many islands that are fairly short drives away with incredible bridges, mountains, hikes, arctic beaches, and incredible views! It was our first time in the Arctic so bear with us as we learn the hoops.
Drove from A to closer islands, and attempted to hike to Kvalvika beach (Moskenesoye, Norway).
And lastly, enjoyed a life changing aurora borealis (northern lights) how on our last night, brought to you by nature. ;) haha
I hope you enjoy the vlog! If you share my photos, please give credit.
Thank you,
Isabel (feel free to ask questions if you're interested or are planning a trip)
ACCOMODATION:
Stayed at: Eliassen Rorbuer http://rorbuer.no/en/
As always, I also recommend Airbnb: www.airbnb.com/c/isabelv259
(very few are available!!)
DRIVING:
I recommend renting a car as this is a pretty isolated place and pretty far from other main cities, ports, and establishments.
FOOD:
Ate from gas station food in Reine, and bought food to cook from a coop market between reine and hamnoy. As I mention, only one restaurant in Hamnoya, Krambua, but it was closed for the season. It looked amazing though in reviews!!!!
THINGS TO DO:
Hike to arctic beaches
kayak in the summer
drive to see view beautiful views
northern lights tours (or explore on your own)
whale tours
haukland/kvalvika beach
