The 30th edition of CIDOB’s International Yearbook reviews the shifts in international relations over the past three decades and features Germany as its country profile. But it also analyses COVID-19’s impact on the future of democracy, the economy, power balances and the rivalry between international powers. Which actors, alliances and organisations will emerge strengthened from this crisis and which diminished? Will the social and political divisions between countries widen or be bridged? Where will the global wave of protests that marked the end of 2019 lead? Will the fight against COVID-19 unite or further divide the international community?
The launching event for CIDOB’s International Yearbook 2020 will feature an introduction by Bruno Tertrais, Deputy Director of the Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS), followed by a conversation between Christian Kastrop, State Secretary for Digital Society and Consumer Protection at the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, and Jana Puglierin, Head of ECFR Berlin, which will be moderated by Pol Morillas, Director of CIDOB.
