180 tourists from Ukraine arrive in Mombasa

Some 180 tourists from Ukraine have landed in Mombasa just 10 days after 189 came through a direct charter.

The  County Government of Mombasa led by the deputy governor, Dr. William Kingi say they have been forced change tac in tapping the foreign market by introducing the sister city program and signing an MoU with the Ukrainian government more tourists are expected to be visiting the coastal city.

Speaking during the arrival of the tourists, Kingi mooted the formation of county tourism board saying that it will assist in selling Mombasa as the preferred tourist destination.

The Ukrainian government has urged the Ministry of Tourism to allocate funds to market Kenya in Ukraine, adding that over 3 million Ukrainian tourists travel globally every year.

“I can advice Kenya Film Commission to sign co-production contract with Ukraine Film agency. I also urge Tourism CS Najib Balala to allocate marketing budget and promote Kenya in Ukraine,” said Oleksi Sirkov, Ukraine Honorary Console.
