UNDP and its trusted partners help communities in Moldova become tourist attractions. In recent years, UNDP has supported 12 rural communities to initiate or improve their tourism offer by creating:
- 15 tourist destinations and routes launched
- 50 tourism businesses (including 26 initiated by Moldovans returning home from the diaspora or their relatives) set up
- 34 rural houses with 200 accommodation places inaugurated
- 5 tourist information centres opened

At least 185 new jobs in tourism services have been created to ensure a better living at home.

UNDP has also contributed to regional development and diversification of tourism services in the Codrii and on the rivers of Moldova by supporting beekeepers, farmers, winegrowers and owners of sheep and goat stables.
Moldovans in the diaspora, even if they are far away, bring tourists home because they are proud of their villages and country of origin. All these synergies help to growth prosperous businesses at home.
