Białowieża National Park, located in eastern Poland, has signed contracts for the lease of 125 ha of private meadows for the needs of the European bison living in the Białowieża Forest. Plot owners will receive an average of approximately PLN 2,500 (EUR 550) per hectare, provided that they collect the hay growing there and leave it for these animals to feed on during winter.
