Russia is using its Communist past to attract an ever-growing number of Chinese tourists, as they try to market what is known as "red tourism”. In 2014 Russia attracted nearly 400,000 Chinese tourists. Not only are Chinese tourists interested in learning about their bordering neighbor, but the two countries have shared similar history in the 20th century and this is helping Russia to attract hundreds of thousands of Chinese visitors.
