Economic Mission Tourism Bridge for European Economic Integration, Odessa.

Today, October 28, 2021, the Delegation from the Republic of Moldova and Romania organized an event on the launch of the regular railway route Iasi - Chisinau, synchronized with the existing Chisinau - Odessa. The purpose of this event was to consult the key actors from the 3 countries in order to adjust the timetable of the railway routes Iasi - Chisinau - Odessa, as well as to capitalize on the enormous potential of the boosted regional tourism resulting from this section. The delegation visited Odessa within the Economic Mission "Tourism is a bridge for European economic integration", organized by the Association of Employers in the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Moldova (APIT) together with the Moldovan Railways and the Institute for Development and the Institute for Project Development and Expertise (IDEP Moldova).
The visit of the mission was provided by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Odessa City Council and took place under the patronage of the mayor of Odessa Mr. @Ghenadi Trukhanov. For all participants were organized the transfer, meals and a tour of the sights with electric vehicles. Initially, the event was to be held at Odessa City Hall, but recently access to all public buildings was restricted due to pandemic conditions, the event was in the hybrid version. A group of 11 participants from the delegation hosted and physically intervened from Odessa at the online event in which they welcomed notorious speakers from Odessa, Kyiv, Chisinau, Iasi, Bucharest, Galati, Brussels. The organizers were honored to welcome the participation of city and regional administrations, railway and tourism administrations from three countries, parliamentarians, and business associations from Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. During the event, the recording of written questions to the European Commission, submitted by MEPs on additional incentives for tourism and the development of the Iasi-Chisinau-Odessa railway tourist route, were presented.
The purpose of the mission was to bring together key participants in connection with the topic (public and private) who will cooperate to ensure a favorable climate for the (re)launching of regional tourism through the regular Iasi-Chisinau-Odessa synchronized railway route, which will start regular service from November 1, 2021. As a result, the promoters aims to trigger travel agencies create for tourists short visit offers (City Break type) by train between Iasi - Chisinau - Odessa.
Today's visit of the delegation, consisting of 77 representatives from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, showed that even in the most difficult periods in the context of a pandemic, international regional tourism with respect to epidemiological conditions is possible.
The event should be a catalyst for the (re)launching of international regional tourism, which has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
