It ranges in height from 1120 m at the eastern end to 1129 m at the western end. It rises in the northwestern part of Zakopane. On the east side of Gubałówka is a village Ząb, and on the west Gubałówka is adjacent to Butorowy Wierch. At the foot of the northern slopes of Gubałówka in the valley of the stream Bystre is located New Bystre. The name Gubałówka comes from the clearing Gubałówka, which is located on it from the surname Gubała. Testament of Jędrzej Gadowski written on May 1, 1692 gives the first name of this hill as Antgua.

On Gubałówka there is a funicular railroad from Zakopane built in 1938, 1298 m long and with an altitude difference of about 300 m., modernized in 2001. The mountain is popular among tourists visiting Zakopane. From its ridge there is a panorama of the entire Polish Tatra Mountains and Zakopane and Podhale, Pieniny, Gorce, and Beskid Zywiec with their Slovak part. From Gubałówka leads walking Papal Trail on Butorowy 1160 m, from which you can pull off the chair lift to Koscieliska. As a result of disputes between owners of land on the slope of Gubałówka and Polish Railways, skiing to the lower station of the cable car is currently impossible.

Above are the following, among others:

Gubałówka Ski Resort, with trails on the Gubałówka Glade, a snowboard chute and a snow park;
iron cross put up by Professor Tytus Chałubiński to commemorate his reconciliation with his friend, Kazimierz Krzywicki (often mistakenly stated to be a votive offering for the control of a cholera epidemic).
numerous ski lifts operated in winter by private owners;
gravity slide;
RTON Gubałówka radio and television transmitter with a 102 m high mast.
