We are Polish and British rowers, Ewa Marcinkowska and Steve Walker. We set out on a bold adventure to explore Poland by rowing and visiting places along the 1000 km long river Wisła, the last wild river in Europe, so as to reach Gdansk in time for 30th anniversary of the first free elections since the Soviet era. Did we make it in time?

You can watch a trailer for the whole journey here: https://youtu.be/rURzpW1ep7s

In the first episode we visited the beautiful Royal City of Kraków. You can watch that here: https://youtu.be/wEhIQ-6nCpA

In this second episode we visit the most charming Royal Sandomierz, one of the oldest and historically significant Polish cities. A true gem.
It is beautifully located on seven hills, beside the Vistula River.

Sandomierz gained early importance due to its geographic position on the trade route between The Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, and Ruthenia.

This city will amaze you with its rich history, legends and stories, and its magnificent architecture. The layout of the market square has not changed since the 14th century!

We found things unique in the whole world.

We went 12 meters underground to discover an astounding legend.

Today the city has got so much to offer to everyone, from Wine lover to film lover.
Countless cultural and musical events take place here all year round:
Cheese and Wine Festival, Film Festival, Organ Evenings, Knight Tournaments, musical concerts, Vistula Day, Strawberry Sunday and many more.
People are the most friendly, and they will make you feel very welcome.

Sandomierz has been listed by CNN Travel as one of 15 the most romantic small cities in Central Europe.

Poland didn't even exist between 1795 and 1918 while it was partitioned between Austria, Germany and Russia. Poland regained its independence after the 1st World War but it has changed most during the last 30 years following the end of communism.

We wanted to discover what the Poles have achieved. But Poland's boundaries have varied hugely so what exactly defined Poland? Well, the geographical core of Poland turns out to be the River Wisła [Vistula] that flows from the Tatra Mountains in the South to the Baltic Sea in the North.

What we uncover on our journey dramatically changed our views of Poland and it will change yours too.

We offer two unique perspectives on Poland:
1. that from a river
2. that coming from our two different countries (cultures)

We have tried to combine serious matters with a light and humorous presentation style that will amuse, inform and entertain you.
