DON’T LET PEOPLE TALK YOU OUT OF YOUR ADVENTURES! ⚠️
-
Usually if people tell us how dangerous a country is and how bad the people there are we don’t take them seriously and just nod and smile and still hitchhike and wild camp there.
But for Transnistria the amount of people telling us not to go and with stories of recent rocket attacks that missed Ukraine and hit Transnistrian soil they managed to make us doubt our decision ????♀️.

However upon arrival, we never waited more than 2 minutes until a friendly person in a 60 year old Lada stopped and welcomed us with a bright smile. Lots of people were greeting us in the streets, being happy about seeing tourists and then we even got invited on the farm of Pëtr and Vlada. They were the nicest people ever and this evening came in as one of our highlights of our whole trip. In the end, human encounters (and sometimes animal encounters, too) are what sticks in our memory, not the architecture of a city or the good views ????!
When we left them the next morning and hopped in another car (after waiting for a minute) driving to the border, we felt bad that we’d almost missed out on such a unique opportunity because of some people who’ve never been here and just heard bad stuff in the media.

???? Today‘s message:
Don’t let people talk you out of your adventures. We realized that most often they try talking you out of an amazing idea/trip because they didn’t have the guts to do it themselves.
So, don’t take advice about a country when the person has never been there. Don’t take hitchhiking advice from a person that never hitchhiked. Don’t take life advice from a person that never lived.
Go for it! ❤️????
-
Lastly, thanks Pëtr and Vlada for making our stay so memorable ???? you guys are amazing and we miss you so much Vlada.
I even gave them my sister’s phone number (as they’re the same age) and urged her to come to Transnistria too or invite Vlada over to our home!

Tell us about one unique travel encounter you had in the comments ????!

Safe travels, Berni and Alex ❤️
