I discovered an abandoned winery during historical tour of Lviv!

During my final two days in the city of Lviv in Ukraine, I decide to visit some of the city's historical sites.

I start in the Old Town, visiting The Space of Synagogues. This is the site of the Great City Synagogue and the Golden Rose synagogue. Both were destroyed during WWII.

I then make my way out of the city centre to Lychakiv Cemetery. Opened in 1786, it served as the resting place for many of the city's upper class residents, including the Ukranian poet and activist, Ivan Franko.

In the cemetery, I also found the graves of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes; young men who died in battle against the Russians in 2014. I also found the Polish Orlat cemetery. This is a memorial and burial place for the Poles who died in Lwów during the Polish-Ukrainian War and Polish-Soviet War between 1918 and 1920.

My next stop was the Sports Academy. This is a fine example of modern Soviet brutalism.

Nearby, I discovered an abandoned winery. I had heard that this wasn't a particularly safe place to visit, but I managed to explore it with no problems.

My final stop was the Lviv ghetto; the third biggest Nazi ghetto in Europe. At the back of the ghetto, I discovered a Soviet monument graveyard!

After 18 months of a life on pause, thanks to the sodding corona virus, and endless hours on Google Maps checking out all the places I want to visit, the time has finally arrived to begin my travels in Europe.

Starting in Berlin, I plan to travel east as far as Georgia and taking in pretty much all of the countries in between.

I will be vlogging my way through Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey and probably many more.

Join me from the start of my journey so you can say you were there right from the start :)

Subscribe and ring that bell and all that nonsense.
