Kumaran noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered to help the Philippines set up a coastal surveillance system.
During Indian President Ram Nath Kovind's state visit in October 2019, among the agreements signed was a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for sharing shipping information between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Indian Navy.
By signing bilateral agreements, we have also broadened the path to improvements in maritime security, science, technology, tourism and cultural cooperation, said President Rodrigo Duterte in October last year.
