With this 4K walking tour, I am taking you to Floriańska Street - one of the oldest, most popular tourist and commercial streets in Krakow. During this walking virtual tour from St. Florian's Gate to the Main Square, you will see many interesting historical places, hotels, restaurants, cafes, tourist attractions.
Floriańska Street in Krakow is part of the Royal Route, which was entered on the way to Wawel during important historical ceremonies. It was one of the first cobbled streets in Kraków, and by the end of the 15th century, most houses standing on Floriańska were constructed of solid masonry.
Walking down Floriańska Street towards the Main Market Square, it is worth paying attention to several historic tenement houses:
No. 41 on the left-hand side. This is the former House of Jan Matejko – the most eminent among Polish historicist painters. Today the building is a museum.
The House No. 25 accommodates the Museum of Pharmacy, one of few in the world and Poland’s largest. One of the rooms is a reconstruction of the study of Ignacy Łukasiewicz, the inventor of the oil lamp.
No. 14: The Pod Różą Hotel (Under a Rose) was established around 1800 - the oldest hotel in the city of Krakow
No. 7 Pod Matką Boską (at the Sign of Our Lady), with a beautiful, late-renaissance figure of the Madonna and Child.
No. 1 Pod Murzynami (Under the Blackamoors). It owes its name to the bas-relief showing two black people, an allusion to the 16th-century pharmacy Ad Aethiopes (being Latin for “under Ethiopians” i.e. black people)
A street artist at the beginning of the movie: Imad Fares
