Moldova is a landlocked country located in Eastern Europe, bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east, and south. It has a diverse landscape, with the Dniester River flowing through the eastern part of the country. The capital and largest city is Chisinau, and other significant cities include Tiraspol, Balti, Bender, and Cahul. The official language is Romanian, and Russian is widely spoken. The population is diverse, with Moldovans being the largest ethnic group, followed by Ukrainians, Russians, Gagauz, and Bulgarians. The country has a primarily agricultural economy, with wine production being a significant industry. Politics is a parliamentary republic with a president as the head of state and a prime minister as the head of government. Transnistria is not internationally recognised as an independent state and is governed separately from the rest of Moldova. Moldova has pursued closer ties with the European Union and international relations, and tourism is known for its beautiful countryside, vineyards, and wineries.
