We begin in the capital Chișinău, where I join an incredible free walking tour led by Anastasia. Together we explore the city’s highlights, hidden corners, and stories that bring Moldova’s capital to life.
From there, we dive into Moldova’s rich culinary culture, visiting some of the most authentic and highly rated restaurants in Chișinău – incredible food, deep traditions, and some of the warmest hospitality you’ll find anywhere in Europe.
Next, we explore the city’s striking Soviet-era Brutalist architecture, a raw and powerful reminder of Moldova’s past and its complex history.
The journey continues to the breathtaking Orheiul Vechi Monastery, a cliffside spiritual landmark overlooking dramatic landscapes and the winding river valley – one of the most beautiful places in the entire country and a future UNESCO World Heritage candidate.
We also descend into one of the largest underground wine worlds in the world – a vast Soviet-era limestone mine turned wine cellar, located 120 meters below ground, storing over 20,000 bottles of wine in a surreal underground labyrinth.
Throughout the journey, what stands out most is the incredible warmth of the people, the authenticity, and the feeling that Moldova is truly one of Europe’s most underrated destinations.

And finally, I take you into Moldova’s powerful National Day experience:
In the morning, we witness the Day of Victory over Nazi Germany, marked by Soviet-era commemorations and demonstrations by parts of the Russian-speaking community.
In contrast, the evening shifts to the Day of Europe celebrations, reflecting Moldova’s EU candidate status and its European future.
At the main festival grounds, the city comes alive with concerts, live bands, traditional dances, and a vibrant atmosphere where people celebrate together under the European flag.
A country between histories – and a nation moving toward its future.
