This was the last Biohazard album with Bobby Hambel, who left due to differences with the remainder of the band. Hambel hung out in White Devil, also featuring members of the Cro-Mags, prior to seemingly leaving the music company entirely. In late 1995, the band, along with Treatment? and Gunshot, contributed remixes to the Pitchshifter album.

It was produced with the help of Dave Jerden. For the 199697 Mata Leao Tour, the band employed previous Helmet guitarist Rob Echeverria. The band also used the Ozzfest mainstage alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Danzig, Fear Factory, and Sepultura. While visiting Europe in support of the Mata Leao album, the band tape-recorded their Hamburg, Germany, reveal for their very first live album, No Holds Disallowed (Live in Europe), which was launched in 1997 through their previous label, Roadrunner Records.

The character was presented in the second season and appeared throughout the series' sixth and last season. The band signed to Mercury Records and launched their fifth studio album, New World Disorder, in 1999, when again with Ed Stasium as a manufacturer. The relationship with Mercury Records soured rapidly as the band felt betrayed and misinterpreted by the label.

In 2000, the band continued to visit Europe and Japan, without the assistance of a record label or management. In 2001, the band launched a compilation album entitled. The album included various B-sides and remixes from various periods in the band's recording history. The album was released by the Phantom Sound & Vision label.

Leo Curley, of Outline and All Method Necessary, was employed as his replacement. In the same year, Biohazard signed two new record deals with SPV/Steamhammer in Europe and Sanctuary Records for the remainder of the world. Despite the new record deals, the band took some personal time in order to work on other tasks.

After writing and recording approximately twenty tunes for the project called Blu, Bair transferred to Los Angeles, California to continue an art profession and the project dissolved. Graziadei also began deal with a book, Tales From The Hardside. Schuler utilized his downtime to perform with New York band Amongst Burglars as a replacement drummer for the leaving Will Shepler.
