We went on a spring 2024 road trip that turned out to be way better than we ever expected. Starting from Osijek, Croatia, we drove through Romania, taking our time to see castles, small towns, and the stunning Carpathian Mountains. From there, we continued to Chișinău, Moldova, where we got a feel for the city’s calm rhythm, wide streets, parks, and its very distinct character, before crossing into Tiraspol, Transnistria (a country that doesn't exist, yet), a place that really feels like stepping into a different world.
After Moldova, we headed to Bucharest, where we spent time wandering the city, taking in the mix of old and new. From wide boulevards and historic buildings to lively streets, cafes, and everyday city life. From there, we continued on to Sofia, Bulgaria, exploring the city’s laid-back vibe, historic churches, and trying out great food before finally driving back home to Osijek through Serbia.
It was a mix of long drives, random stops, border crossings, great views, tired legs, and lots of laughs. No rush, no strict plan, just exploring, learning, and enjoying the road. Honestly, the whole trip was an absolute blast and an unforgettable experience we’ll be talking about for a long time.
At the end of the video, there’s a photo of the road trip route (not full due to Google Maps limits) with a short summary of the journey. And if you have any questions about the full route, how we planned or did the trip, feel free to reach out to us on Instagram @antonia_travels and @sven864.
