Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested introducing a visa-free regime for BRICS countries in order to "attract foreign tourists" in Yalta, Monday.

Speaking during a State Council Presidium meeting, Putin also reviewed tourism figures for Russia for 2014. "The amount of tourists travelling through Russia has increased by nearly 30 per cent in 2014, reaching 41 million people. Apart from that, inbound tourism has increased by 16 per cent. Of course, we understand perfectly that the current economic and price situation as well as the exchange courses are playing a major role," the Russian leader said, noting that the domestic sector, has also gone through positive changes despite the ruble being weak and the current sanctions imposed on the country.
