This video provides an insight into the hike from Morkie Oko parking till Czarny Staw pod Rysami (which serves as base to climb Rysy) via Morskie Oko.

Rysy is the highest peak in Poland (2499 m / 8198 ft.) which many mountain climbing enthusiasts dream of reaching. Interestingly despite the relatively high difficulty Rysy is one of the most visited peaks in the Tatras. However it is undoubtedly a route for experienced climbers. Since its located on Polish-Slovak border so it has two routes to climb. However climbing from Polish side is steep and difficult as compared to Slovakian side.

Since the hiking, trekking and climbing itself is 30 km in total and we wanted to return the same day so we left from Krakow as early as 3:00 a.m. Driving a total distance of 117 km we reached Morkie Oko parking at 5:00 a.m. As Morskie Oko Lake is a part of the Tatra National Park therefore an admission fee of 8 PLN per person (136/- Indian rupees) is required to get in. The asphalt road from here all the way till Morskie Oko makes it one of the best hikes in Poland for families with kids and even disabled travelers.

The first few kilometers of the trail leads through Białka Valley - the second largest valley in the Tatra Mountains lying on the Polish-Slovak border. It's approximately 7.5 km from the entrance gate till Morskie Oko and it took us 2 hours to reach there.

Morskie Oko with an area of 34.93 ha is the largest lake in the Tatra Mountains. It is 862 m long, 568 m wide, and 51.4 m deep. It is a glacial (circus) lake situated at an altitude of 1,395 m above sea level slightly below the PTTK Shelter. We were amazed by the beauty of this lake.

After enjoying our packed breakfast we were on the trail again and that our hike lead along the shores of the largest lake in the Tatra Mountains among spruce, limb and mountain pine. The path is comfortable, it leads along steps made of boulders all the way upto Czarny Staw pod Rysami. It took us 40 minutes to reach there and this emerald green crystal clear lake was a sight to behold.
It is one of the most famous lakes in Tatra mountains and the name 'Czarny Staw pod Rysami' comes from the cyanobacteria found in them. It is the second deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains and the fourth in this respect in Poland.

There is a wreath of high peaks around the Czarny Staw pod Rysami, among which one can mention Kazalnica, Mięguszowiecki Szczyt with the Pod Chłopkiem Pass, Wołowy Grzbiet, Rysy, Żabi Szczyt Wyżnia and Żabiego Mnich.

The most famous trail leads through the vicinity of Czarny Staw pod Rysy to the highest peak on Polish side of Tatra Mountains - RYSY , which starts at Morskie Oko.

Stay tuned for the next part.

☞ DO NOT LITTER and keep the Tatra's clean for our future generations to enjoy its pristine beauty✅
