Most people have no idea Moldova has a medieval fortress like this. We drove up to Soroca to see it for ourselves, and it did not disappoint.

The Soroca Fortress sits right on the Dniester river and was recently restored, so it looks incredible inside and out. Entry is around 30 Moldovan lei, roughly 1.5 euro, which is nothing for a place with this much history. We walked the walls, checked out the round towers, and took in the views over the town and the river.

If you're into castles, history, or just off-the-beaten-path spots in Eastern Europe, Soroca is worth the trip.
