The small town of Terezin in the Czech Republic is best known for the concentration camp and ghetto that operated between 1940 and 1945.

The residents of the town were forcibly moved out and the town was then filled with Jews, initially from the Czech regions, but then from other European countries.

The ghetto was home to many elderly and prominent Jews, some of which stayed for years in the ghetto before being sent to extermination camps. The site was used by the Nazis in propaganda films, parts of which are shown in this vlog.

Of the approximate 144,000 prisoners of Terezin, only 23,000 survived the Holocaust.
