In early 1929, Chicago and the nation celebrated another prosperous year. Then came Black Thursday on October 24th when a series of further crashes eventually ushered in the Great Depression, ravaging Chicagoans financially in the economic collapse and leaving a lasting imprint on the nation. Dominic A. Pacyga, Ph.D. and Emeritus Professor of History at Columbia College Chicago, presents an illustrated lecture exploring the impact of the Great Depression on the Chicago area.
