A cycle ride and a look at some of the local history in my home town of Swindon in Wiltshire,
One shop I used to enjoy very much was Limmex. Roy Stevens was the proprietor and I remember he fitted new firing pins into an old double barrelled shotgun I once owned.
As you walked through the corner door there was a small but well stocked gun room immediately on the left hand side. You could smell the glorious aroma's of polish, Linseed and various oils.
Limmex had a decidedly pre-war feel. Aged wooden drawers were crammed with an assortment of washers, screws, nails and bolts.

Polite and usually rather elderly gentlemen in neat red overalls fussed over customers’ needs, going to great lengths to locate that elusive nut and bolt which you could purchase for a few pence.
Roy was a very kind man, A Gentle man. Sadly now passed away. Here is his obituary:
STEVENS Royston Stanley 'Roy' Last proprietor of Limmex, Old Town. Passed away at the Great Western Hospital on 21st October 2015, aged 86 years. Funeral service to take place at Kingsdown Crematorium on Monday 2nd November at 10.30am.
