Warsaw

Many tourists complain that Warsaw is all new and that is reconstructed old town is nothing more than a tourist playground. In reality, however, the beautiful and well-kept centre of Warsaw is a faithful reconstruction having been completely destroyed in the Second World War. Walking around Warsaw´s beautiful cobbled streets and quaint city squares, one cannot help but feel a tingle of pride in the steadfastness and passion of the Polish people. Heinrich Himmler, during the planned destruction of the already ravaged city in 1944, boasted that Warsaw would be wiped off the face of the Earth. Today, Warsaw is a thriving and sophisticated European capital, its very survival testament to Poland´s post-war success. Among the many landmarks worth seeing are the Royal Castle Old Town Square, Presidential Palace and Wilandw Palace.
