The Old Town, Warsaw
The Old Town of Warsaw is the crown jewel of the Polish capital. Its colourful tenement dwellings and the distinctive ambience of its small alleyways enchant visitors. It's no surprise that it's been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
The column of King Sigismund III Vasa, who transferred Poland's capital from Krakow to Warsaw in the 16th century, stands on Castle Square. The capital's oldest and tallest secular monument is a popular meeting spot for Warsaw residents.
The Old Town Square in Warsaw is the city's oldest and most picturesque square. It's impossible not to be smitten by this location! At the turn of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, it was set out. Here, celebrations and markets were held, but criminals were also executed. Its shape hasn't changed much over the years, despite the fact that it's almost seven centuries old. A statue of the Warsaw Mermaid stands in the square's centre, the emblem and guardian of the city.
