You and the Mount is an ErasmusPlus co-funded youth exchange that aimed to show what the relations between the people and the mountain is and to encourage young people to continue to look for sustainable tourism and sport as well to show them that unwise behaviour in the mountain sometimes leads to serious consequences.
In the period 20. October – 27. October 2021 an international youth exchange was implemented in high mountain base in Lozen that is situated near Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and brought together participants from 7 European countries: Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Cyprus, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
By gathering young people on one place, we aimed to teach them basic skills that are essential for practicing tourism and sports in the mountains.
Implementing the project activities, young people had the chance to learn how to think consistently, to deal with different situations and to develop their rational thinking. All participants were united around the need to improve the mountain culture and learned a lot from each other.
The young people had the incredible opportunity to spend a whole day in the mountains learning to give first aid with the materials at hand, which they found in the woods.
As part of the youth exchange, a website was created where young people wrote content for the days of the international mobility. Every night the youngsters spent together, holding intercultural evenings and learning about the culture and surrounding environment of their peers from different nationalities.
The development of tourism and mountain sports is becoming more and more popular that’s why the main goals we are pursuing with the implementation of You and the Mount are:
- Acquiring skills in extreme and unpredictable situations in the mountains;
- Prevention of the risks of practicing sports and tourism in the mountains;
- First aid skills in situations already created;
- Selection of proper equipment and route in foreseeable mountain situations;
- Creating of web platform by the participated youngsters in the project, where they can share good practices, advices with each other, can add their friends and can stay in contact after the project;
