3 beaches you can’t miss in the Algarve.
In this vlog I will show you what in my opinion are the 3 beaches that you can’t miss when visiting Algarve.
Algarve was considered once again the Europe’s leading beach destination by world travel awards.
And with more than 130 beaches in the region, it’s true that I could have chosen so many others options.
But I decided to choose these ones because they are not usually in the top 5 of beaches sought by tourist in the Algarve, and I wanted to show 3 different styles of beaches in the region.
Lets start by praia Praia da luz
One of the most beautiful and picturesque beaches in Algarve
This video was recorded in April 2019
You have nice coffee shops and restaurants to have a nice meal by the beach and spend the day
The picturesque Praia da Luz beach is located not many km from the city of Lagos, and from the sand you can see some of the beautiful and traditional white houses
This video was recorded in March, and has you can see the beach operation is still in construction, everything is getting ready for summer.
This beach is situated in a very cosmopolitan summer holiday resort that used to be a major fishing town, especially from the 13th to the 16th century.
The seafront promenade with its Portuguese crazy paving offers sunny open-air cafés and restaurants and lots of entertainment during the summer.
To the west, the promenade lined by large palm trees goes right up to the walls of the fortress that was originally built to protect Luz Church from North-African pirate attacks.
The calm waters of the bay mean it is an ideal spot for water sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing and diving.
To the east, stands the limestone and marl cliff, deeply scratched by running water.
This whitish cliff is marked by a very dark rock formation that stands out against the landscape: it is the so-called Black Rock, a volcanic vein that extends from the Monchique Mountains to the sea.

Ilha do Farol
After parking the car in Faro
The only way to reach this beach is by boat, which can be caught at cais da porta nova every day
In the islands the sun burn much more, so please protect your skin well.
It’s a fantastic experience of 30 minutes by the incredible Ria Formosa Canals.
For sure you will spend all day by the beach and the island offers good options to eat.
Normally the ocean is really quiet, like a pool and the water is warmer in the islands.
But when it’s choppy have fun catching the waves: D
Light tower is open to visit only on Wednesdays.
When deciding what to eat in this paradise, you have to go for the local food.
Try the oysters and the grilled fish with a nice cold beer or a fantastic green wine.
After the lunch you have several options:
To sleep, to relax drinking a nice cocktail in the beach front, or do walk and discovery this incredible place.

When the day it’s over you will enjoy even more the trip back to faro. Relax and enjoy the ride.
My last choice is Barrinha beach in Faro. (…) this one is by distance my favorite beach in all Algarve. (…) Maybe because it was where I grow up and spend fantastic moments with my family and friends.
this beach, one of the most secluded ones in the area is Located in the far end of the non-touristic beach of Faro, locally known as Ilha de Faro, this magical place is normally visited all year by locals that love to walk, locals with boat and commonly by surfers.
To arrive here you will have to drive in direction of Faro beach that is located in the back of Faro airport just In the heart of the beautiful Ria Formosa natural park.
When you pass the bridge you turn into your left and drive until the road finish. Find a GOOD parking space and prepare to walk 45 minutes.
Please take comfortable shoes and a bottle of water. You will need it. Don’t forget also to protect your skin.
This beach Offers miles and miles of almost untouched sand
This big sandy beach is normally really empty, but in the summer months you will have to deal with some issues. The annoying traffic in the bridge and also to park, but this in only in July and August. For example this video was recorded in October. But it will be worthy, you will have a paradise beach just for you.
Normally I like to go by the wood side walk, watching the river, the airport, to stop and admire the nature, the birds, the sound of silence the river view on my left, and I love to comeback by the beach with my feet in the ocean

These are in my opinion the 3 beaches that you can’t miss when visiting Algarve
