We heard great things about Tavira in the Eastern Algarve and had to experience it ourselves. We discovered the city (it's a bit hilly so beware) on foot and by bike and rode our bikes over to Praia do Barril (Anchor beach). To finish the day off we sampled some of the local specialties: ameijoas (clams), polvo (octopus) and diabolo shrimp. We focused primarily on the ameijoas for our video but highly recommend trying the other two as well! Terraze is highly recommended for all 3 dishes.

Great place for a coffee and pastel de nata, right on the square where we had chestnuts: https://www.tripadvisor.pt/Restaurant_Review-g285715-d4945217-Reviews-Pastelaria_Veneza-Tavira_Faro_District_Algarve.html
