O’Shea was the only JTT finisher at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve for Round 4 of the season

It was a difficult Sunday at the office in Portimao for the JTT at Round 4 of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship, with Eddie O’Shea the only finisher of the four-rider strong group in P21. The British rider built up confidence at a new track throughout the weekend and made great ground in the race to recover well from the back of the grid, securing his second best result of the campaign.

Mario Aji was involved in an unfortunate incident on Lap 4 that brought out the red flags, with the Indonesian rider unable to continue. Despite the DNF, Aji remains inside the top 10 in the overall standings and will be raring to go at MotorLand Aragon next time out.

After the restart, both Tatchakorn Buasri – the lead JTT rider on the grid – and Takuma Matsuyama crashed out as the duo tried to fight their way through the pack in the 10-lap dash. Thankfully both riders were uninjured, with Matsuyama also still inside the top 10 in the Championship ahead of Round 5.

A three-week break is now on the cards for the JTT before heading to Aragon for the fifth round of the season, which takes place from the 22-25 of July.
