Mermaid purse egg case or egg capsule is the casing that surrounds the eggs of oviparous sharks, skates and chimaeras.

This rare one was found with the embryo (probably of a skate Raja) still inside.

Recorded at Manta Rota Beach - Algarve South Portugal.
