A Poupa (Upupa epops) é um coraciiforme, da família Upupidae. Pode atingir 44-48 cm de envergadura e 25-29 cm de comprimento, incluindo o bico que mede cerca de 4-5 cm. Como o seu nome indica tem uma poupa, orlada por pontas pretas e tem capacidade para a erguer. Em relação à plumagem, de ambos os sexos, destaca-se o rosa alaranjado na cabeça e no peito, as listras pretas e brancas nas asas, e uma faixa branca larga na cauda preta. O bico é ligeiramente curvo.
Esta ave reside e nidifica no Algarve, podendo ser aqui observada ao longo de todo o ano. Prefere zonas agrícolas, matas pouco densas, sebes e arbustos. Alimenta-se sobretudo de insetos e minhocas.
