PART II: EXPLORING PRAGUE DAY 1.

We didn’t begin our day tour that early, still exhausted from last night. Had heavy brunch, prayed zohor and asar first, and we went out at 1pm. The AirBnb was quite close to Palladium Shopping Centre, so we exchanged our Euro to Czech Koruna at Alfa Money Changer as advised by a friend. Zero commission and their Euro buying rate was CZK2500 for EUR100. The staff at the counter is a Muslim. He said salam to me, maybe after seeing my wife wearing hijab on my side. They worked very fast, no receipt is produced unless you specifically asked for it. Although we had many people queuing, I took my time to check the amount given and if it is true all the money and Koruna and not Belarusian etc. Dealing with cash is really a headache when in Prague.

We went straight to the Old Town Square about 600 meters away. Honesty, the main reason we chose Prague because the flight ticket was the cheapest from Helsinki, and we actually knew very little about the destination. We were surprised to see so many tourists around the Old Town Square, maybe because the main touristic area is concentrated there and not spreading widely as in Amsterdam before. Probably Vienna will be different.

Tips from Janek’s Honest Guide are now kicking in. Don’t do this, choose that one, avoid this, enjoy that... it was very useful but somehow created more anxiety because you became over conscious about everything. Sometimes I think we just need to forget about everything for a while, be safe and immerse ourselves in the beautiful surrounding there.

The Prague Astronomical Clock is the third oldest in the world, but the oldest one that is still working. It was amazing. Too many people around, feeling like being in the crowd for Hajarul Aswad in al-Masjid al-Haram ????. More can be read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague_astronomical_clock

Scanning around, I now understand why two or three days are still to short for visiting Prague. But our priority is spend quality time togetherness as a family. So, we didn’t force ourselves to visit everything. To find Apple Museum in the middle of the Old Town was already amazing and appreciated. Why Apple Museum even exists in this Old Town, I also don’t know.

We then walked slowly towards Charles Bridge, enjoying the view of souvenir shops, tried ‘traditional Czech food’ the Trdelnik, and finally reached the bridge area. There was a peaceful protest organised by Falun Gong against the cruel treatment they received from the Chinese government, I showed my thumbs up to them, and praying for Uyghur people too.

We climbed the tower at the beginning of the bridge, paid around EUR10 for four of us to get to the top of the minaret. The view was stunning, but required high level of patience dealing with visitors who ignore the flow of the movement.

We later on had our early dinner at Kabul Restaurant around 500 meters away, and went home early to rest.
