Ferrara is an ideal day trip from Bologna as it's 30 mins to reach by the fast train. It is 1h30 mins from Venice. The imposing Castle in the city centre is impressive and the city centre has other architectural gems as well. It's fun exploring the small lanes and finding a cosy restaurant for Lunch or Dinner.
