In the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, Addo, there is a very unique herd of Elephants that has been pushed back from the brink of extinction. Due to large amounts of hunting and poaching by the turn of the 20th century, this herd had almost gone extinct, until they were given protected land in Addo Elephant National Park in 1931. The descendants of the few Elephants that survived now live and thrive in this park by the hundreds.
