Closing a long and unfinished project is this short video. I completed my high school studies in Košice between 2014 - 2018. By 2016, it had already occurred to me that I was making a longer timelapse short film about the city.
My free time at the time still included a little photography per day, and luckily I had friends who came with me to different locations so I wasn’t bored while my camera was taking the pictures. Then I slowly stopped recording because I didn’t have that much free time later, and I didn’t continue the project at all during the colder - rainier months of winter. I didn’t want the shots to bounce back together in a once colder, then warmer environment, and the early afternoon darkness didn’t help either. Rather, I tried to make more shots every year during the summer months.
I graduated from school in 2018 and found a job for myself. Since I live 100 kilometers from Košice, I didn’t deal with the video anymore. Over time, a few thousand recordings disappeared from storage, as well as the destruction of my entire backup disk, which of course had a few recordings aside. I kept the pictures here and there for several years, where I had just found a free space for them.
Then I lost my job in the pandemic, so I had time to deal with my own goals. I started working on 3D design and 3D printing. I created a TikTok account where I regularly uploaded videos about small projects. Then I decided in May to spend more time on my Youtube channel as well. I built a new system last month because of multiple terra recordings, luckily it has been completely sorted by now, although in my opinion there is no fully sorted system. During the clean-up, these raw footage reappeared, and I thought, if not all, and not in the form I originally wanted, but I’ll put together a little video of them.
The end result is good in my opinion and not too…of course the thing is flawed, I totally admit it and although there are surprisingly a few recordings that I really like to this day, there are some that I’m not proud of at all and they simply have a bad composition.
I really hope to be able to make this dream video sometime in the future and post it on my channel in a slightly longer and nicer composition.
