Zakopane is a resort town in southern Poland, at the base of the Tatras Mountains. It’s a popular departure point for winter sports and summertime mountain climbing and hiking. Gubałówka, reachable by funicular offering sweeping mountain views. The town is also known for its turn-of-the-20th-century wooden chalets, symbols of Zakopane-style architecture. Food here is really good too and it is worth to check out some traditional restaurant where delicacies like oscypek (smoked sheep cheese), smalec (lard with cracklings), all sorts of tasty soups (like garlic soup), placek po zbójnicku (highlander's potato pancake) and all sorts of meats are served. Just yummy! If you add to this equation a couple of great friends then the calculation is straightforward and the result is only one - great fun!
