Cate was born in Auckland in 1955 and had a childhood marked by fear, loneliness and anxiety. This difficult period pushed her to repress the desire for adventure she had always had.

It's only at the age of 61, when she divorced her husband, that she decided to take the step she had never dared to take : she left everything behind and went to explore Australia first, and then crossed the equator to visit Europe, all this time living out of her car serving as her home. At 64, she never felt so alive and inspired. I was born in Auckland NZ in 1955, number 6 of 6 in a sporting family. My childhood was full of fear, loneliness and anxiety. I did not know that I could plan my life so I didn't. As an adult my life was a mess. I tried to follow the rules but I'd had enough of that life so I kept testing the boundaries. I felt more alive on the edge. In 1992 on a Vision Quest in Arizona I met a man and moved to Australia, but that marriage ended in Feb 2016 and I found myself on my own for the first time in my life..at 61! This was never meant to happen. But I thought dammit, I am not going to wallow in self pity (for long), I'm going to use my divorce money and go see the world. I was always too scared to travel and I'd never really been anywhere. So I travelled solo to the Northern Hemisphere for 5 months in 2016 and again in 2017 and had the best time of my life. Since Dec 2016 I have lived and travelled Australia in my car. Every day is a mystery and a delight.
