I've just spent a few hours in one of the best restaurants in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

I hope you're hungry; I know I am.

I'm at the Pervak Restaurant, a traditional Ukrainian restaurant in the city centre.

It's an experience I won't ever forget, a place with a distinctive atmosphere, and here you'll find Ukraine's top chefs.

The locals come here, so you know it good.

I met up with Shota ( an executive chef for the Hilton Kiev, who happened to be dining here that same day).

We hit it off, and he kindly offered his suggestions of what dishes I should order, and the restaurant quickly became my favourite place to dine.

I consider myself a foodie and always enjoy trying something new.

Eat the zucchini pancakes with soft cheese and mint; they're delicious, and Ukraine lays special claim to its delicious hearty beetroot soup, borsch.

"Borsch" recently gained recognition on the intangible UNESCO cultural heritage list.

I discovered Ukrainian's love beetroot, and they came up with their variation on a Russian salad, colourful, isn't it?

Afterwards, walk off the calories -- admire the Soviet mosaics and absorb the city's beauty, an abundance of incredible arts and culture.

If, after all that, and you're still standing, but perhaps not yet completely satisfied, you can enjoy one of Ukraine's secret underground cocktail bars.

Dance to some tunes, soak in the atmosphere and down some of the best cocktails on the planet.

I'm Tais, and I hope I've encouraged you to come to this incredible city.

Kyiv is cool, cosmopolitan and has a lot to offer.

Great places to eat; it's hip and vibrant, an energy that is young and alternative with a very bright future ahead.

"There isn't a surer way to find out whether you like or hate a place,
the food, the atmosphere or its people than to experience it for yourself".
