Brit in Poland homes Ukrainian refugees in his tiny flat with his two girls under 5

British ex-pat, Patrick Ney, 38, lives in Warsaw with his wife and two girls under 5.

When the Ukraine invasion sent millions of refugees fleeing towards Poland, Patrick was called to help house a family, including a grandma and a 5-year-old boy, whose parents are serving as paramedics on the Ukraine front line.

Despite not sharing a common language, the two families soon became close. Sharing food and childcare, Patrick soon wondered how he ever got along without his extended Ukrainian family.

Poland has taken in 1.8 million refugees in the space of three weeks. Yet you won't see any refugee camps, instead, the Polish people have taken it upon themselves to house Ukrainian refugees in their own family homes.
