The town of Chichicastenango has the biggest market in Guatemala and most probably in Central America. This is a colourful open air area plenty of all types of stalls selling everything from clothes and crafts to fresh meat. It is a huge and chaotic market which comes at full potential on Thursday and Sunday. Be prepared to bargain hard and don't miss the Santo Tomás church, a place where you can witness a mix of catholic and maya ceremonies.
