Last week, my friend Vova put out a challenge for me for this year’s Easter celebrations.

I needed to collect significant items to make a Ukrainian Easter basket.

I started buying some things in Kosiv’s weekly bazaar and ended up doing some things myself.

I learned how to bake paskas and endured 11 tiresome hours just to achieve the perfect Easter bread.

I painted my own pysankys and helped save the world from the clutches of evil with my talented pysankar, Galia.

I’m lucky enough to have gotten the complete Ukrainian Easter experience plus seal of approval from Vova himself, who is really one of the best people to turn to for cultural immersions in the country. (I hope the tourism industry bounces back in Ukraine so that more people can discover his kindness!)
